This was inspired from Alexis’ first visit to China in 1988. It is a Chinese man outside of Yangshou carrying his plow and his water buffalo is walking in front of him on his way home from the rice paddies.
This was the first painting was from Alexis first trip to China where she led a group of 13 art students on a field study from Hong Kong to Being and Southern China.
She and the students after 4 weeks of travel studied Traditional Chinese painting at Guanghou Art Academy in south East China.
