This piece is an abbreviated form of the 10 commandments and the great commandment from Exodus 20:2-17 and Mark 12:29-31. The text is written in Hebrew and reads from the right to the left.
Alexis first made the paper, one with coconut bark and the other with black recyled paper.
After much research and advisors she wrote out the abreviated script.
Then she guilded the letters on top of the coconut paper using multiple layers of gesso and after each layer dried she applied the gold leaf. The panels were then mounted onto burnt bambooand black linen.

The first two panels are the 10 Commandments
The left panel is the Great Commandment which begins with the Shamma, “Hear Oh Isreal”
